Outcomes of the Program (Pos)
The postgraduates passing out from GTN Arts College
Acquire proficiency in language, arts, and management studies and shall be equipped with
ICT competencies, including digital literacy.
Gain dexterity in communication skills and the ability to apply the concepts and skills in a
focused thematic area through sustained critical inquiry.
Develop the necessary skills for employability and get instilled with ambition, involvement,
and responsibility by exploring their role in creating this world and positioning themselves in
the 21st century.

Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs)
On successful completion of the "Master of Forensic Science and Criminology" programme,
the student will be able to
PSO1: Analyze the current scenario about the crime, the lacunas in the investigation, and find
the remedial measures in order to bring quality, speed, and truthiness to the investigation
process as a trained professional forensic expert or scientist. Analyse the forensic samples
using basic and state-of-the-art techniques from various disciplines of forensic science and
criminology. (Problem Analysis)
PSO2: Employ and carry out real-time societal remedial measures based on forensic science
and criminology knowledge. Understand the basic and advanced techniques in various
disciplines of forensic science by performing the related demonstrations. (Demonstration)
PSO3: Instill new research tools in the development of solutions and suggestions for societal
problems. Create new research tools for drawing solutions and suggestions to societal
problems using forensic science and criminology. Design and develop research-based
solutions to complex forensic problems. (Research)
PSO4: Apply the ethical principles and commit to professional ethics, values,
responsibilities, acquired forensic and criminology skills, techniques, and norms of forensic
work practised through skill in communication (skills, competency, and ethics).
PSO5: Organize and develop enthusiasm for self-improvement through continuous
professional development and lifelong learning as a trained professional forensic expert or
criminologist. (Lifelong learning)
PSO6: Evaluate the results of various techniques and make a decision on simple or complex
forensic problems (skills and competencies).

Course Pattern for Master of Forensic Science and Criminology
The Post Graduate degree course Master of Forensic Science and Criminology consists of six major components. They are as follows: Part III - Core Courses (Theory, Core Practical, Electives, NME, Internship and Project/ Dissertation).
Objectives
The Syllabus for Master of Forensic Science and Criminology Programme under the semester system has been designed based on the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), which would focus on job-oriented programs and value-added education. It will come into effect from July 2022 onwards.
Eligibility
Candidates should have passed the Bachelor Degree in Forensic Science, Science, or Any Science Relevant Bachelor Degree Examination, Government of Tamil Nadu, or any other examination accepted by the syndicate of Madurai Kamaraj University as equivalent thereto.
Duration of the Course
The students who join the Master of Forensic Science and Criminology Programme shall undergo a study period of two academic years – Four semesters.

The Under graduate degree course consists of five vital components. They are as follows:
Part I Language (Tamil / French)
Part II English
Part III Core Course (Theory, Practical, Electives, Allied, Project and Internship).
Part IV Skill Based, Non Major Electives, Environmental Studies, Value Education and Self Study
Part V Physical Education (Non Semester) and Extension Activities.

Specific Program Outcomes
The students, at the completion of the program, will be able to
PSO1: Organize and develop knowledge about various domains of forensic science, the importance of allied subjects, various organisations running across the globe in forensic science, and their key roles in forensic science.
PSO2: Apply the professional ethics, values, and principles of forensic science to solve crimes and develop new research tools for drawing solutions and suggestions to the existing problems in society through the use of forensic science.
PSO3: Using forensic science knowledge, employ and execute real-time remedial measures to the crime investigation and legal need.
PSO4: Apply the ethical principles and commit to professional ethics through skill in digital literacy, communication, and field work.
PSO5: As a trained professional forensic expert or scientist, analyse the current crime scene and investigation gaps to identify corrective measures that will improve the investigation's quality, speed, and accuracy. Incorporate the acquired forensic knowledge and techniques in the field of crime investigation.
PSO6: Learn about crime, its historical context, classification, the importance of criminology, penal laws, and the criminal justice system from a forensic standpoint.
PSO7:Apply, develop, and demonstrate competency in the various investigation techniques, including recognition, collection, identification, presentation, and documentation of physical evidence countered in various crimes.
PSO8: Integrate with new research techniques and methodology using a statistical package to improve professional knowledge and achieve the highest level of excellence in the field of forensic science.
PSO9: Gaining knowledge of grammatical conventions, varieties, formulations, courses, and culture. Becoming competent to face competitive examinations through the development of language skills
PSO10: Understand roles and responsibilities in society and apply professional ethics, accountability, and equity.
PSO11: Reenact and make use of forensic protocols or hubs within realistic social and environmental aspects with values, ethics, and equity to transform knowledge and skills for the community.
